Popcorn in Japan and Mogura No Uta

I love the popcorn at the movies in Japan.  One side is regular butter popcorn and the other side is caramel corn.

I saw the new Takashi Miike film Mogura No Uta.  It was a high energy gangster film in the vein of Sin City and Pulp Fiction.  I'm a big fan of Miike and I was excited to see one of his films in the theaters especially in Japan.

Andy Warhol and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

All of Tokyo was flush with yuki and Warhol fever.  The Mori Art Museum in Roppongi is showing a rad Warhol exhibit called Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal. Casa Brutus featured KPP on the front cover in a tribute to Warhol.

The Warhol exhibit was well worth checking out.  It features work from his entire career.

Kawaii Bread

Wow this bread is cute.  Here we have turtles.

Anpanman!

A peaceful day in Kabukicho

Greeting from the famous Kabukicho in Shinjuku.  I was able to visit the famous red light district with my wife and her friend.

I love the color of the streets and the signs.  I really love the aesthetic.

I get a good feeling when I look at all those vertically hung signs down a Kabukicho street.

If you are hungry drop in on the Robot Restaurant.  More on that later.

Hmmm... maybe I missed my calling as a Japanese host.  I could always wear a long hair wig.  Ha!  No I don't think so.

Here are the robots of Robot Restaurant.  I saw them in Mogura No Uta.

What a great prize.  An Attack on Titan jacket.  I saw one later in Don Quixote for $40.

I had a nice view of the city from the cafe.

Good night Kabukicho.  See you next time.

Tommy Lee Jones and SMAP?

Tommy Lee Jones makes another appearance in Japan as the Boss Coffee spokesperson for the 4th year straight.  This time he appears with Japanese guy group SMAP.

I watched the new Ataru movie on the way to Narita.  It's cool seeing the Ataru actor next to TLJ.

Gyoza in Ginza

It's always fun meeting new friends.  I found this guy in an alley just hanging out.

Giant flying kaiju gyoza is a typical occurrence in Ginza.

I had a delicious gyoza dinner.  I had some sochu to wash down the awesome gyoza.

They even had shaker gyoza with excellent green tea salt.  Shake shake shake.

Ginza is a sight to see at night.  Look how beautiful the Fujiya building is at night.

New socks

These were my awesome kimono socks.
