Food of Okinawa June 2014

Batman and Pete here to cover the food in Okinawa in today's blog.  Here we have loco moco a savory and simple dish popular in Okinawa and originating in Hawaii.  It consists of a hamburger patty over rice with a fried egg smothered in brown gravy.  My wife loves this dish.  I would love it but I'm not a fan of eggs.

This delicious Okinawa lunch staple is called taco rice.  It's basically everything you would put in taco salad (seasoned ground beef, lettuce, salsa) over a bed of white rice.  My taco rice has cheese sauce but taco rice is also served without the sauce.  Dig it daddy-o.

This edamame is lazy as hell.  It sleeps all day on it's own tatami mat.

I found a killer restaurant off of Kokusai Dori (International Street) and it had crispy and fresh seafood spring rolls good enough to write home about.  Plus they were free through some promotion the restaurant was running.

My lovely wife ordered herself some omurice which is seasoned rice folded into an omelet.  Very nice plating here with the strips of nori (seaweed).
Beastie Boys are always on vacation.  RIP MCA.  I love being able to cook my own steak and whatnot.  The steak they gave us to cook was so tender and marinated perfectly.
Here is the outside of the restaurant.  If you zoom in on the photo you can see the phone number.

I had a few drinks with this shisa and boy was he drunk.  Good karaoke singer though.  He sings "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing" like a champ.  Miss ya shisa!

Flesh smoothie!  Like Dennis Miller once said,"I'm outta here!"
